Written by: Fyodor Dostoyevsky
This novel was published for the first time in Russian in 1864 AD, and after a while it gained wide fame around the world and was translated into many languages such as English and Arabic. Dostoevsky divided his novel into two parts; The first section includes eleven chapters, and in this section it discusses many societal issues such as class differences and lack of morals. As for the second section, in it the events of the story begin and the writer defines the protagonist, who is the person who hates and despises everyone, even he despises himself.
This nameless person lives in complete isolation from society, and admits his exaggeration in analyzing and dissecting himself and his actions, and he feels that he is afflicted with excessive awareness. On the other hand, he borrows money all the time, insists on catching up with a group of friends who despise him, and deceives a prostitute in a house of prostitution. Many critics have indicated that the writer in this novel intended to ridicule himself and the different stages of his life.
